After some resting we continued in to the forest. Strangely I was not glowing anymore. I did not feel any different though, so hopefully Niblers powers were still present.

 

Mokferuso cast a “locate plant” to se if we could find some more of the Ghost flowers. He did detect some but our dragon senses told us there were creatures in the area. We already had some flowers and we did not want a fight if we could avid it, so we left the area.

 

The forest ended in a big river. On the other side was open landscape as far as we could see.

A that time we sensed that someone was stalking us. There were eight of the buggers. And they were big. Close to forty meters tall. Thinking we were safe up in the air I just flew up some more. But we were wrong. They climbed the trees and jumped up grabbing hold of Mokferuso. They were clawing on him and he started throwing fireballs at them. When the fireworks stopped I was surprised to se they still hung on. With some efforts Mokferuso managed to shake most of them off and flying higher up with only one left on his back.

I flew in starting to hammer him with sword blows. What…? No effect. I must be needing silver weapons to hit him. Blast. Thinking fast I decided to try one of the new abilities given to me by the “Arm of Loke”. I blasted him with a “Destruction” spell that toppled him of Mokferuso. When he hit the ground we could see that he immediately started to regenerate. Nasty critters. No we just had to stay out of reach. We tried shaking them of our trail but they kept on following us. Even when invisible they managed to sniff us out. Finally we cast a “Zone of sweet air” around us. This made them confused and they finally wandered off.

 

Some distance down river there was a bridge, so we crossed it and continued in to the wasteland. After some time it was time for a rest. It is difficult deciding time around here. It always seems to be dusk. It is neither light nor dark. Well as I said, it was time for some rest and Mokferuso cast his “Create Campsite” spell. It did not go so well. There was a big explosion and we stood there shell shocked. Blasted Wild Magic. Luckily it worked the second time.

 

The next day we moved on and discovered an old shack on a hilltop. We approached and knocked on the door.

A few seconds later the door went up and we stood face to face with a Death Knight carrying a shield. Being a Death Knight he was not of the hospitable type and told us promptly to go to hell. Mokferuso calmly informed him that we had already been there and had no plans of going back. The Death Knight then attacked us. Mokferuso was the fastest and turned him self in to a dragon before he lashed out at the poor sod. That would be the end of it I thought. But by some dark miracle Mokferusoe missed twice. The Death Knight did not wait. He run inside and was gone. Damned! I followed inside and found the Death Knight in a corner trying to cover himself with the shield. Mokferuso had explained that the shield was cursed and that the Death Knight was actually a dryad that was transformed. I had to make this quick. Two swift strokes and it were over. I felt sad for the poor creature so I gave him a funeral and promised to find a way to bring him back when we had dealt with the disease. Mokferuso took the shield and we headed back to the Dryads.

 

Once there Mokferuso grabbed the spear and since he now had both the spear and the shield he now knew how to put them together in to a two-handed axe. Mokferuso went to work and made the axe. The axe is apparently the only thing that can hurt the Guardian without him regenerating the damage.

 

Atlantea showed us some herbalism skills and made a potion out of the Ghost flower. The potion was given to Anthrax to cure his amnesia.

She then explained that Phoebe was actually here sister. So she would be really greatfull if we could get the necklace without hurting here. Right. Like getting a necklace from a medusas neck was not difficult enough by itself.

In preparation Mokferuso cast a “Mass Invisibility” spell that ended up creating some very local showers over our heads. Great work. We could not get rid of it so we had to call in the experts. Arazaka dispelled the bad weather but he also took off and slammed in to the ceiling. Fortunately he made it down again in one piece.

 

Mokferuso and I flew to the mountain were the medusa/Phoebe was supposed to be and discovered a hut by a river with a lot of stone statues of people and animals. A young female dryad was walking around in the garden. It was the only living thing there so it had to be her. Mokferuso tried to “Dominate” here in to give us the necklace but it did not seem to work. Suddenly she started levitating so I threw a “Bigby” spell to hold her in place. Off course that would have been to easy so the area around here also turned black from a “Darkness” spell caused by the Wild magic. Since “Domination did not work we had to try something stronger. I cast a “Soul Dominion” spell at here and I suddenly were in here body and in full control of here actions. I/she took of her necklace and put on the ground before i/she stepped aside so we could se the necklace. Mokferuso then used “Telekinesis” to fetch the necklace and dispelled the darkness and I released my hold on her.Missionaccomplished with no harm done to Phoebe.

 

Back in the camp we had to tell Atlantea why we needed her staff. Luckily she agreed on giving us the staff so we could combine the necklace and the staff to make a bow. This bow apparently is the only thing that can kill Mr. Fantastic.

 

Atlamtea was also very happy to hear that we had gotten the necklace from Phoebe without harming here. As a reward we could choose one of here potions. I must say that the one that transforms you in to a silver Dragon sounds very interesting. But it is a group decision so we will wait and se.

When the wall of fire came up, all the golems suddenly came to life. 72 golems came rushing in from all directions. With so many golems we needed to get the upper hand fast so I charged right at one and started swinging. Alas the golem was still standing after my charge I figured out its combat capabilities. It would soon fall. Otamata disappeared in to thin air, Anthrax was just standing there while Mokferuso changed in to his dragon form. Knarg sprinted for the exit while Arazaka turned in to a bear before he just vanished. The golems made their attacks on me butt they all missed. Suddenly Anthrax decided it was time to do something. He started casting some kind of spell and a gate appeared. Out of the gate came a freaking huge air elemental that started attacking and suspended most of the group in mid air. I finally managed to defeat my golem adversary. His friend went the same way. The third one looked like it was ready to fall but it stood fast. It seemed like Otamata got rid of the elemental. He cast a disintegration spell at it and it disappeared. God riddance. Just 70 golems to go. Anthrax managed to dispose of two more of the golems and it looked like we actually had a chance of defeating the lot of them. But the golems had other plans. They started merging 4 and 4 in to 18 super golems. The dead ones merged as well. This was not god at all.

I charged in again and expected to at least make a dent on one of the things. I gave it all I had and nothing happened. Not a scratch.  Mokferuso gave one a wholly of chlorine gas with the same result. The golem hit back and it looked like Mok really felt it. It was time for a tactical retreat. I grabbed Romana (who somehow had managed to survive a direct hit from one of the super golems) and exited the library. Luckily everyone made it out.

 

We regrouped outside the library and watched as the super golems went back to their places around the library. Unfortunately they remained in super golem form. It was decided to wait until the next day before we made a new attempt on the library. Mok and Ara went outside for some exploration while the rest of us stayed indoors.

 

The next day we re entered the library without activating the golems. We went over to the pedestal in the middle of the room again and started wondering what this buttons was fore. Eight buttons in a circle with no symbol on them. Mok pushed the top button and the word “sky “appeared over it. The rest of the buttons were also tried out, each showing a word. I suggested we probably needed to push all the buttons but in the right order so Mok pushed in “travel to the divine sky castle of dragons”. An eight pointed star appeared in the middle of the console and Mok pushed it. Suddenly a gate appeared and since we can’t turn away halfway we all entered.

 

We found ourselves on a platform high on a mountainside. Very high. Like 30.000m up.

It was freezing cold so those who were not immune to cold damage continued to loose health. The air was also so thin that it made flying impossible.

What we could see here on the platform was a 450m long skeleton of a dragon witch was chained to the wall. Next to it we saw a 300m tall dragon head carved in to the mountain side.

I walked over to the edge of the platform to have a look down but could not see anything else than the mountainside and some clouds far below.

 

The mouth looked like an entrance of sorts so we went over there. The dragon mouth was indeed an entrance. The tunnel stretched about 200m before it ended in a gate of sorts. We just noticed a fist sized groove in the gate most likely for a key when it felt like all the air was sucked out of the tunnel. We turned around just to see a wall of fire coming down the tunnel and hit us. When the flames died out we could see the what we thought to be the remains of a dragon looking down on us from the entrance. So the chained up dragon skeleton wasn’t all dead anyway. Just as I started running out to meet it we saw a fist sized jewel embedded in its forehead. That had to be the key for the gate.

I went in to “Heroic fight” and as I ran up the tunnel to meet the dragon I noticed beams of magical energy coming from behind hitting the dracolich. It looked like he was seriously hurt and he suddenly came rushing down the tunnel. Expecting the worst I braced myself for the coming attack. An attack that never came. He just rushed past me focused on the guys at the gate. They must have really pissed him off. But I’m not one to be ignored. A fatal mistake from his part.

Saying that he rushed past me isn’t that accurate. The dracolich was so long that when he reached the gate his body was right next to me. All I had to do was strike. I enabled my time stop ability and gave him hell. When the time stop expired a little later I was sitting on top of a heap of bones polishing my swords.

 

Three dracoliches encountered. Three dracoliches slain by Artemis. Granted I think the squints did most of the work this time but you don’t need to tell them that. You know these spell casters and their lofty egos.

 

We found the jewel and placed it in the socket on the gate.

The gate opened and we entered something that looked like a paradise. Green trees, a lake with a river and lots of wildlife. Very nice. I’m looking forward to finding out what kind of place this is.

The amulet that Artemis made to Knarg in exchange for funds to make his helmet.

He was thinking of making something with a bow or an archer but he could not come up with a design he was happy with. So he went for a raven design instead. Wearing his mask Knarg did indeed look like a scary raven anyway and at times he had also transformed in to one, so it was only fitting.

Artemis had long missed a suitable helmet that could better protect him in battle and when he finally got some time off, he decided to make one himself. It should be something simple but powerful. He had just the material that he needed but funds were scarce. Since Anthrax always seemed to have a lot of gold he made a deal with him to make Knarg an amulett if he funded the helmet.

The result was perfect. A simple helmet that gave him better protection, but also gave him some extra punch when needed.
